South Asian Association For Regional Cooperation First ( SAARC ) Summit
was held in Bangladesh (Dhaka) on 7-8 December 1985.SAARC Members are
Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka
Afghanistan was added Later.Late King Birendra Shah had contributed role
establishment of SAARC Summit.
The SAARC secretariat is based in
Kathmandu Thamel, Nepal. It coordinates and monitors implementation of
activities, prepares for and services meeting, and serves as a channel of communication
between the association and its member states as well as other regional
organisations.
The secretariat is headed by the
secretary general. Who is appointed by the council of Ministers from member
states in alphabetical order for a three year term. The SAARC Secretariat and
member states observe 8 December as the SAARC charter Day.
The 18th SAARC Summit will be held in Nepali
Capital Kathmandu on 26-27 November 2014 A.D. and B.S. 2071 Mangsir
10-11 .The Programme will open National City Hall Pardasanimarga.

Important point we discuss by Point to point.
1.The importance of tourism had been recognized since early days of
SAARC.
2.The task of promoting tourism was assigned to the SAARC Chamber of
commerce and Industry (SCCI) Tourism Council.
3.Approved establishment of the working group of Tourism.
4.The Leaders stressed that continued efforts would be made by the
member states at all levels to promote people to people contact by facilitating
travel among SAARC countries.
5.They agreed to take measures to charge nationals of SAARC member
states fees for entry into archaeological and heritage sites as applicable to
their own nationals.
6.These efforts would include facilitating the movement of people
through improved travel infrastructure and air, sea and land connectivity
among the SAARC countries, collaboration in human resource development and the
promotion of SAARC as a common destination through public – private
partnerships and joint campaigns.
7.It also finalized a list of activities to be undertaken
for tourism promotion among the SAARC Countries.
8.It also reviewed the status of implementation of the SAARC and
noted with satisfaction that most of the decisions taken earlier have been
implemented by the member states.
9.The Minister/Leaders of the delegations in their statements emphasized
that concerted efforts should be made by member states to implement all
decisions taken by this forum as well as the working group meetings. They
reiterated to adopt a collective approach in promoting regional tourism.
Conclusion: Tourism is very interesting profession .We must have eyes to
see, ears to listen and desire to learn.
